The diabolical thriller Shallow Grave was the first film from director Danny Boyle, producer Andrew Macdonald, and screenwriter John Hodge (the smashing team behind Trainspotting). In it, three self-involved Edinburgh roommates—played by Kerry Fox, Christopher Eccleston, and Ewan McGregor, in his first starring role—take in a brooding boarder, and when he dies of an overdose, leaving a suitcase full of money, the trio embark on a series of very bad decisions, with extraordinarily grim consequences for all. Macabre but with a streak of offbeat humor, this stylistically influential tale of guilt and derangement is a full-throttle bit of Hitchcockian nastiness.

Bombay ! Bienvenue dans une ville qui ne s’embarrasse pas des demies teintes. Ici tout est contraste. À Bombay, on trouve à la fois les studios de Bollywood et le bidonville de Dharavi, là où Dany Boyle a tourné le film oscarisé Slumdog Millionaire. L’écrivain Suketu Mehta l’a très bien résumé dans son ouvrage « Maximum city » : «de la réalité la plus sordide au rêve le plus fou, il n'y a qu'un pas». Bombay attire, c’est évident. Sa population a été multipliée par sept en 60 ans. L’ébullition de la ville (qui connaît une importante croissance économique) se ressent autant que les nombreux problèmes engendrés par des afflux de populations constants et non maîtrisés (déchets, pollution de l’air, qualité de l’eau)…

Dopo aver vinto una colossale fortuna alla lotteria, il simpatico cane Pongo vive una vita lussuosa, concedendosi ogni tipo di divertimento. Il suo patrimonio è amministrato dal buon Alberto che cerca di indirizzare il cane verso scelte "responsabili". Un giorno Pongo riceve la proposta di un ricco uomo d’affari senza scrupoli, Montalban, che vuole utilizzare l’immagine del cane per produrre una serie di giocattoli e gadget. Pongo e Alberto non acconsentono, ma Montalban non accetta rifiuti e decide quindi di rapire il cane milionario con l’aiuto di due scagnozzi da strapazzo. L’unico modo per mettere in salvo Pongo è nascondere la sua identità: comincia così un’appassionante fuga che farà scoprire a Pongo il mondo reale e il valore dell’amicizia.

The film is the story of a group of soldiers, who, in the course of their compulsory military service in 1967 and 1968, before and during the military dictatorship in Greece, are assigned to the then recently founded Armed Forces Television.
This TV station, founded for the civilian population, was run by the Cinematographic Unit of the army which until then had only produced propaganda films and newsreels and was responsible for entertaining the troops and other charity organizations with movie screenings. The personnel was composed mostly of soldiers, who already had experience in the film business in their civilian lives, as well as those who received their training in the army.
The story may be only 95% true, but that is simply because the true story is even more absurd…
