After having established himself as a popular U.K. DJ in the late '80s, John "00" Fleming overcame a lengthy bout with lung cancer and reestablished himself as an even more popular DJ in the U.K. during the late '90s and early 2000s, spinning popular trance regularly at superclubs like Gatecrasher, God's Kitchen, Ministry of Sound, and Cream. In addition to his reputation as a DJ, Fleming also dabbled with production, recording trance anthems for React and Bondage, the most noteworthy being "Lost in Emotion" (1999). Furthermore, he has also remixed tracks for an array of producers such as Brain Bashers, X Cabs, Joi Cardwell, Erasure, Bushbabies, and many others.

Sex, Lies, and Videotape (styled as sex, lies, and videotape) is a 1989 American independent drama film that brought director Steven Soderbergh to prominence. The plot tells the story of a troubled man who videotapes women discussing their lives and sexuality, and his impact on the relationships of a troubled married couple and the wife's younger sister. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival, and was influential in revolutionizing the independent film movement in the early 1990s. In 2006, Sex, Lies, and Videotape was added to the United States Library of Congress' National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
