Although there are a couple of hits and good album tracks missing, this has enough of the hits to make it worthwhile for casual listeners on a budget.

A worthy album by one of New York's most soulful groups. Lead singer Douglas "Smokey" Scott could belt a lyric as convincingly as anyone. Their soulful rendition of "Best Thing Ever Happened to Me" probably surprised Jim Weatherly (the composer) with its earthiness. "Some Guys Have All the Luck," which did well on the charts, sounds better than Rod Stewart's Top Ten remake. They get real on "We're Just Trying to Make It," an epic song about a man, his woman, and their issues. "Stay With Me" is irresistible with its sweet unison backing vocals and building lead.
