Kutmah (pronounced koot/mah) will release his long overdue debut album “The Revenge Of Black Belly Button!” (or TROBBB!) via Big Dada on 28th July 2017. The record features an incredible cast of guests - Gonjasufi, Jonwayne, Natureboy Flako, Ta’Raach, Jeremiah Jae, Zeroh, Zackey Force Funk, N8NOFACE, Sach, Akello G Light and DJ Chris P Cuts - spanning experimental meditative, Zennist loops; crackly oddball beats and abstract raps; as far as outright punk/noise and even folk/blues.

'Pushin' Too Hard' is a 94-track celebration of 1960s garage punk, a retrospectively named genre first compiled on Lenny Kaye's seminal 1972 collection 'Nuggets'. This is raw, exciting music with tons of attitude - fuzz guitars, swirling organs, wailing harmonicas, thumping drums and tough vocals are plentiful. In the mid 1960s, teenage rock 'n' roll groups proliferated throughout the USA, often inspired by 'British Invasion' bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds as well as US styles including surf, blues and folk rock. Most towns and cities had local scenes revolving around dance parties, clubs and 'battle of the bands' contests and many of the bands here were regional royalty but never broke nationally. Key bands featured include The Seeds, The Sonics, The Standells, The Shadows Of Knight, The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Love, The Electric Prunes, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, We The People and ? & The Mysterians. There are national US Billboard Hot 100 hits from Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs - 'Wooly Bully' (#2), The Strangeloves - 'I Want Candy' (#11), The Castaways - 'Liar, Liar' (#12), The Beau Brummels - 'Just A Little' (#15), The McCoys - 'Fever' (#7), The Bobby Fuller Four - 'I Fought The Law' (#9), Paul Revere & The Raiders - 'Just Like Me' (#11), The Barbarians - 'Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl' (#55), Love - 'My Little Red Book' (#54), The Knickerbockers - 'One Track Mind' (#46) and The Seeds - 'Pushin' Too Hard' (#36) presented here in a longer unedited version. Rarities from The Blue Beats, The Dirty Wurds, The Apparitions, The Bedlam Four and The Jackals are released here on CD for the first time while many other tracks have never been released in the UK before.

The album features the song from the movie, including a new remix of James Burton’s Polk Salad Annie, as well as tracks by Nina Simone, The Sonics, Buck Owens, The Byrds, The Shadows of Knight & others. Also included are three tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders (The Hurt Locker, Warm Bodies). As previously reported, a separate soundtrack featuring Beltrami’s & Sanders’ score is also being released tomorrow. Ford v Ferrari is directed by James Mangold and stars Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Jon Bernthal, Caitriona Balfe, Josh Lucas, Noah Jupe, Tracy Letts, Remo Girone and Ray McKinnon. The movie is being released in theaters this weekend by 20th Century Fox.

London-based percussionist and composer Sarathy Korwar opened ears all over the globe with his 2016 Ninja Tune debut, Day to Day. The album created an inexhaustible knot of field-recorded sacred songs by chanting Sidis, wide-ranging ambient sonics, beats, and modal jazz. It offered a wide-angle aural hearing of what was transpiring on the explosively creative South London scene. Korwar followed it two years later with the live My East Is Your West on Gearbox that paired a jazz quintet with five Indian classical and jazz musicians. They revisited classic, transcultural music fusions of the last 50 years by composers ranging from Alice Coltrane and Ravi Shankar to Don Cherry and Goa-born guitarist Amancio D'Silva.

By going back to basics with Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge, Mudhoney flipped conventional wisdom. Not for the first time – or the last – they would be vindicated. A month after release in July 1991, the album entered the UK album chart at Number 34 (five weeks later, Nirvana’s Nevermind entered at 36) and went on to sell 75,000 copies worldwide. A more meaningful measure of success, however, lay in its revitalisation of the band, casting a touchstone for the future. The record is a major chapter in Mudhoney’s ongoing story, the moral of which has to be: when in doubt, fudge it.
