Soprano Sonya Yoncheva has dedicated her latest release to the music of Verdi. This album includes arias ranging from Verdi’s most celebrated works—including Don Carlo and Otello— to some lesser-known gems. Sonya commences her European tour with Verdi repertoire in February. Sonya has already received outstanding reviews for her interpretation of Verdi’s roles. The New York Times said of her performance of Desdemona "Her Desdemona shows why she is looking towards a major career". "Yoncheva is a force of nature".
The final revival of this well-loved production by John Schlesinger provided the perfect vehicle for Vittorio Grigòlo as Hoffmann to display his wonderful voice and masterful acting, surrounded by an exemplary supporting cast, including Sonya Yoncheva in the role of Antonia, and Thomas Hampson as Hoffmann’s arch rivals. The production at the Royal Opera House (November 2016) garnered very good reviews, especially for Vittorio Grigòlo.
Directed by the Tony Award winning and six time MET director, Bartlett Sher, this lavish production of Verdi's operatic masterpiece Otello features one of the most exciting young opera singers of her generation, Sonya Yoncheva, and the Metropolitan Opera & Chorus, conducted by their new director Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo has risen in terms of both popularity and critical esteem since making his crossover debut in 2006, and The Romantic Hero may be his best album yet. These Romantic heroes, the title neglects to inform you, all speak French, but this is not a problem for Grigolo, who grew up attending French schools and speaks the language fully idiomatically.
For her first Sony Classical album of Mozart arias, the young Swiss soprano Regula Mühlemann received fantastic reviews all over the world. She was introduced to an audience of millions in 2016 at the ZDF Advent Concert from the Frauenkirche in Dresden, where she conquered the audience along with the second soloist of the evening, Sonya Yoncheva.
