Truth & Soul is proud to present the CD version of The Soul Fire Box Set. We released a 7 inch vinyl Box Set for Black Friday Record Store Day that contained some of the rarest sides from the catalog. This two CD issue of the same Box Set includes all of those tracks, plus another 19 from the coveted Soul Fire catalog. Soul Fire Records, started in 1999 by Phillip Lehman, produced some of the funkiest recordings to ever make it to 45. Many of those 45s from the Soul Fire catalog are nearly impossible to find today, and if and when they do come up for sale, they fetch top dollar. Soul Fire closed it s doors in 2003 when Phillip stepped away from the music business to pursue other ventures. He left the studio to Jeff Silverman & Leon Michaels, who then started what today is known as Truth & Soul Records. This 2 CD set contains some of the rarest sides from the Soul Fire catalog, and liner notes from Phillip himself.

Mojo Music Guide Vol. 3: Raw Soul is a compilation CD released in 2004 as part of the March 2004 issue of Mojo magazine. Highlights include tracks by Ray Charles, The Isley Brothers, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding and many more.

Operated by a pair of cutthroat radio promotion men, Chicago's Twinight label made its strides via "friendola" - the trading of favors, not dollars, for local radio airplay. Much of the outfit's 56-single output - excepting the work of bona fide hitmaker Syl Johnson - was written and recorded by moonlighting on-air talent eager for a leg up in the Second City's notoriously crooked record racket. Twinight's Lunar Rotation spins 40 former tax write-off tracks on 2 CDs - or 54 cuts on 4 LPs - into works of true soul beauty revealed by the light of a new day.

A former U.S. Marine turned Mercury Records staff producer responsible for everything from Bruce Channel's "Hey Baby" to Ray Stevens' "Ahab the Arab," Shelby Singleton formed his Nashville-based SSS International Group in 1966. Although best known for fare like Jeannie C. Riley's country-pop juggernaut "Harper Valley P.T.A.," SSS and its spinoffs, Silver Fox and Minaret, also generated a vast sampling of deep-fried soul, of which Kent's "Southern Soul Showcase: Cryin' in the Streets" represents the first official digital survey to date. In comparison to the backwoods soul wrought in places like Memphis and Muscle Shoals, SSS productions are clearly the product of Nashville the songs blur the lines between soul and country to the point where such distinctions become irrelevant.

Sony Music released a soul music compilation CD in 1997 in honor of Black History Month called A Soul Product Of Our Environment. It features music by Teena Marie, Grover Washington Jr., Aretha Franklin, Branford Marsalis as Buckshot Lefonque, Patti LaBelle and many more.

An amazing 12 tracks are previously unheard and a further two are very different versions of already popular numbers. Some rare-soul household names have new material featured on here. Ronnie McNeir hits a wicked dance groove with 'Let's Make A Move' and Dee Ervin offers a superbly soulful 'You Make Me Happy' - sure to become a modern classic. We've drifted into the late 70s / early 80s disco sound with numbers found on tape that were just crying out to be heard. Joe Simon cut the unknown group Cynic on 'I Want You' at Spring early in 1982.
