Awesome Live disc by this way-kool blues/rock axeslinger from Arkansas featuring 14 songs that deliver true, retro-sonic, blues-based, heavy guitar power trio rockin' excellence. Recorded live in Germany, the "Official Live Bootleg" disc includes a killer set of great original songs plus covers by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, Alvin Lee, Freddie King & Eric Clapton that showcase Tony Spinner's impressive, kick-ass, guitar playing talents & excellent soul-powered vocals. Captured live without a net with his long-time rock solid rhythm section of Michel Mulder on bass & Alex Steier on drums complete with an excellent sonic production, Tony Spinner lands down 100% authentic as a genuine, modern day "old-school" guitar hero who speaks the six string truth & rocks the blues forever on the "Official Live Bootleg" disc released by Grooveyard Records.
Bark Out Thunder Roar Out Lightning is a complex work, as the artist formerly known as Christian Scott leads us on a new path in his journey. Bark out Thunder Roar Out Lightning bridges past and future by marrying the folkloric styles, ceremonial and ritual practices of the Maroon and Afro-Indigenous Chiefdoms, and culture of New Orleans with Stretch Music. The result is a spellbinding exhibition of Afro-New Orleanian and West African expression where music, dance, and cultures unite.
Eddy Clearwater is equally talented as a bluish singer and as an improvising guitarist. On Reservation Blues, he ranges from Chicago blues to rock & roll, throwing in a couple instrumentals too. His repertoire includes both socially relevant lyrics and good-time music, featuring some of the latter when the former gets a bit too somber. Although there are some solid solos from his supporting players (including three guitar spots for Duke Robillard, two fine solos from tenor saxophonist Dennis Taylor, and a guest appearance by Carey Bell on harmonica during "Find Yourself"), Clearwater is the main star throughout. Fortunately, he is heard in prime form, whether happily jamming "I Wouldn't Lay My Guitar Down" and "Blues Cruise" or singing in a more serious mood on "Winds of Change" and "Everything to Gain." A gem.
