John Lee Hooker was beloved worldwide as the king of the endless boogie, a genuine blues superstar whose droning, hypnotic one-chord grooves were at once both ultra-primitive and timeless. But John Lee Hooker recorded in a great many more styles than that over a career that stretched across more than half a century.

In the mid '60s the Chicago based label Vee Jay put out a Hooker LP entitled 'Is he the world's greatest blues singer?', well, it is safe to say now that Hooker is certainly a prime contender. Despite being labelled as an anachronism. Mr. Hooker has proved to be with B.B. King the most successful of all blues artists. A big seller to the black audiences of the late '40s/early '50s and up today, an international celebrity.

During the late '60s and early '70s Maestro Percy Faith was churning out some of the best releases with top notch arrangements ~ thus enters the album at hand "Angel of the Morning/Black Magic Woman", featuring Faith's Orchestra and Chorus. Each song had an upbeat tone to it, with "DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO SAN JOSE?" and the beautiful ballad "THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU", both tunes from the composing team of Hal David and Burt Bacharach
