"4 Hands" is an intimate conversation between friends - conducted with the hands on the piano. It is a surreal musical conversation between German sound pioneer Hans-Joachim Roedelius and US composer Tim Story. Impressively, this collaborative project demonstrates the heartwarming and yet otherworldly beauty that can emerge when two people from different, overlapping directions approach their beloved instrument.

One of the greatest American film directors of all time taking on one of the greatest American musicals of all time seems like a sure-fire recipe for success - and so naturally, anticipation is high for Steven Spielberg's upcoming remake of 'West Side Story'. The release has been given added poignancy by the death of legendary musical theatre pioneer Stephen Sondheim - who wrote the lyrics for West Side Story. The album features music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, with vocals from the film's ensemble cast including Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist and Rita Moreno.

Progressive Rock | Self-Released

You’ve found the modern, sophisticated style of Second Story. Recording and performing in the Philadelphia region from 1996-2004, this female-fronted quintet created a truly original brand of music. Often called “Neo-Prog” or “Sympho” – their unique brand of pop/rock blurs the line between commercial, “radio-ready” rock and a more progressive, conceptual sound. Combining elements from lush pop to progressive rock, with electronic and hard rock mixed in for good measure, Second Story created music that was impossible to pigeon-hole – and wowed audiences with their technical and note-perfect shows. It’s progressive music for people who don’t think they like progressive music. “Thin Twisting Line” is the long-awaited second album from Second Story. Original recording sessions began in 2001, but many unfortunate roadblocks and delays befell the band, which meant that it was not released while we were still performing.

The Story So Far have been around for a long time. Like all bands of similar longevity, they've grown up – and so has their sound. A slight shift has certainly occurred on fifth album I Want To Disappear, though it isn’t any less enthralling. It’s been six years since we last got a studio album from the pop-punk quartet, and as the band have moved out of their 20s and into their 30s, their energetic sonic identity feels a tad more sophisticated.

Story studied classical piano while growing up in Southern California and even thought about becoming a music librarian or theorist for a while. Then she heard jazz pianist Bill Evans at a New York club, and the experience changed her perspective on music overnight. Story, who had studied at Juilliard and was enrolled at Hunter College at the time, abandoned her academic program in favor of jazz lessons with Sanford Gold, a teacher Evans had recommended. Back in Los Angeles, she continued her musical education at UCLA and the Dick Grove Music Workshops, but it was a job playing piano at a French restaurant that sparked her major breakthrough as a composer. Since the front casing of the piano was missing, Story had no place to put her sheet music and was forced to improvise freely. Eventually, she put some of her spontaneous compositions on tape and sent them to Windham Hill. Within four days, Will Ackerman had called her back and the contract was signed for her first release, Solid Colors, an album of impressionistic piano miniatures. Over the course of five recordings, including a two-album stint with RCA Novus, Story's style has expanded to include electronic duets with Mark Isham and works for various types of ensembles, yet the piano remains the prominent voice in her finely crafted compositions.

2016 album by 80s prog band Multi Story, their first in 29 years! Crimson Stone has been mastered by Roger King (Steve Hackett Band). Multi Story formed in the early 1980's. Following a session recorded for Tommy Vance's Radio One Rock Show in 1984, the band signed with Heavy Metal Records (the new FM label), and released their debut album East West, recorded in Monmouth's famous Rockfield Studios, in 1985. Two years later, the band subsequently parted company with the FM label by mutual consent. Writing partners Rob Wilsher (founder member and keyboard player) and Paul Ford got the creative juices flowing again and started casually working on new material as a duo. It was reaching completion when Rob met brothers Jordan Neale and Aedan Neale on another music project, which sparked the idea of re-working the material to accommodate a full band and fire the Multi Story machine back into life with a new line up.
