We live in the worlds that we help to create every day. Every activity either supports an existing system or effects some change, however small. But is it possible to consciously create the worlds in which we want to live?

The first part of this volume provides the user with assistance in the selection and design of important machine and frame components. It also provides help with machine design, calculation and optimization of these components in terms of their static, dynamic and thermoelastic behavior. This includes machine installation, hydraulic systems, transmissions, as well as industrial design and guidelines for machine design.

The study of Information Systems (IS) design is an essential part of the education of IS students and professionals. The purpose of this book is to provide a thorough reference on Design Science Research (DSR), and it comes from two authors closely identified with DSR – Alan Hevner and Samir Chatterjee.
