The annual "MILCHBAR" selection presents the finest chill-out vibes as a soundtrack for the perfect sunset by the sea. This year, Blank & Jones have invited artists from all over the world to contribute to this magical journey: Ibiza residents George Solar (La Torre) and Ken Fan (Café Del Mar), Brit JIM from Crazy P., long-term Danish friends The Swan and The Lake as well as Jacob Gurevitsch and from France Jpye and Alma Este, who contribute a stunning adaptation of Daft Punk's "Something About You".
"In its second version of 1877, the Second is very compact; it is well balanced, and you can easily appreciate the large-scale arcs of tension and empathise with them. At the same time the huge contrasts are thrilling. It contains wonderful melodies. The Adagio is almost like a description of a wonderful landscape, by which I mean an inner and an external landscape. This is not programme music, but this movement in particular does exude a great sense of intimacy, closeness to nature and humanity - indeed, it radiates such an overwhelming sense of love that one simply cannot tear oneself away from it. The Scherzo on the other hand is at times coarse and abrasive. The Finale comes across as a whirling dance. So, in a nut-shell, it is a mystery to me why this symphony is not played more often. It is a masterpiece!" (Gerd Schaller)
The most comprehensive Bruckner Symphonies cycle, including all available versions. Bruckner’s Third Symphony was always something of a symphonic problem child, from its disastrous first performance (not with standing the enthusiastic reception it received from a young Gustav Mahler) until well into the 20th century. In its original form, it's the longest, most Wagnerian of his symphonies that is often considered, rightly or wrongly, the first truly Brucknerian symphony. While some cherish the uncompromising originality of the first version, Bruckner himself preferred the much tighter 1889 third version, finding it “incomparably better”. This recording of that final version now enables listeners to decide for themselves.
