Seven songs remixed over nine tracks from Kylie Minogue's early catalog, this collection will satisfy serious fans of her work. Those more unfamiliar, or those looking for certain single tracks from this era, should stick to her first two albums, or a greatest hits collection.

It wouldn't be exactly accurate to call Paris Combo a throwback to the 1930s, despite singer Belle du Berry's jazzy, period-perfect crooning style and the fact that guitarist Potzi coifs himself in explicit homage to Django Reinhardt. But it wouldn't be exactly inaccurate, either, and there's nothing wrong with that. David Lews' trumpet snakes and sizzles, almost always with a mute, through the songs' decorously swinging melodies while du Berry drops her lyrics in an expressive but rather dry voice and drummer François Jeannin and bassist Mano Razanajato keep the grooves powerful but light.

Sabine Devieilhe, the young French lyric-coloratura soprano, is a singer “whose upper register, like her virtuosity, appears limitless, while her verbal sense and dramatic engagement are breathtaking”. A prizewinner in the 2013 Victoires de la Musique Classique, France’s equivalent of the Grammys, she has recorded a ravishing programme of excerpts from operas by Rameau with conductor Alexis Kossenko and his ensemble Les Ambassadeurs.

The prodigious Norwegian treble Aksel Rykkvin returns to disc on Signum with a new disc of Baroque works, accompanying the MIN Ensemble under conductor and trumpeter Mark Bennett and their artistic director Lazar Miletic.

Throughout the course of “Partir” (nine sketches accompanied by songs in nine different languages), we travel through the deepest abysses of pain, with the heart rough like a desert, to finally arrive at the ultimate refuge, that is, joy. It is through her voice, accompanied in turns by guitar, piano and percussion, that this journey is able to become both singular and universal.

Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection is the upcoming fourth major greatest hits album by Australian singer Kylie Minogue. It is scheduled to be released on 28 June 2019 by BMG Rights Management. The compilation will be available in a variety of formats, including a two-disc edition, a picture disc vinyl and five limited edition cassette formats. The album includes "New York City", a previously unreleased song written during sessions for her fourteenth studio album, Golden (2018).
