The Beatles Emerging from Liverpool, England in 1960, the Beatles were a seminal British group that evolved from rock/pop origins into pioneers of musical experimentation. The band solidified its iconic lineup in 1962, featuring John Lennon (vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica, keyboards, percussion), Paul McCartney (vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals, keyboards), and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals, percussion) after signing a recording contract with EMI. This followed a brief period with Stuart Sutcliffe (bass, 1960-61) and Pete Best (drums, 1960-62).Initially recognized for their Merseybeat style, the Beatles soon ventured into uncharted musical territories, exploring psychedelia and pioneering innovative production techniques that incorporated tape loops and other effects. Over their active years, they created a legacy of 12 studio albums.

When there were bootleg albums released on compact disc, The Beatles were one of the first artists to have one of their own. Back-Track Part Two is a 74 minute CD with outtakes recorded between 1963 to 1968, which was available in pristine quality for the very first time. 30 years ago, discs like this and the Ultra Rare Trax became a huge rage.

In a rare moment of hubris, the Empress Valley label have announced the release of ‘School Gig’, this new 2 CD set contains what remains of the recording from the Beatles concert at Stowe School on the 4th April, 1963. Premiered in part on the BBC on the Front Row programme by top journalist Samira Ahmed who lead the investigation in to the school concert, played as the Beatles were breaking in to superstardom, this investigation pushed two new tapes, unknown to collectors before, in to the light.

Released in 1995, Jimmy Nichol And The Beatles is a bootleg compilation CD of the moment in 1964 when Jimmy Nicol temporarily replaced Ringo Starr as a drummer, when he had tonsillitis pharyngitis, which lead to him having to get his tonsils removed. This is a chance to hear the only man who temporarily released a Beatle in a live setting. This was released by Desperado Records.
