The best of their work, however, is widely regarded to be their rock steady and early reggae recordings for Leslie Kong’s revered Beverley’s Records during the late Sixties and early Seventies; a period that spawned groundbreaking work such as ’54-46’, ‘Monkey Man’ and ‘Do the Reggay’, to name but a few. The Essential Artist Collection brings together the very best of their output from this period, including the above tracks, along with numerous other classics, such as ‘Sweet And Dandy’, ‘Pressure Drop’ and ‘Night And Day’. Available as a 50 track double CD, the collection superbly demonstrates just why the unforgettable music of the Maytals will continued to be loved and revered for many years to come.

Hypnogogue, the band’s 26th(!) album, continues to bear the signature sound of founding member, singer and bass player Steve Kilbey. The album is mannered and dreamy, combining the Britishness of early Pink Floyd like 1968’s Saucerful of Secrets, with the measured intensity of later Pink Floyd albums like 1988’s The Delicate Sound of Thunder. While Australian, Kilbey’s accent and vibe position him with other dapper and aging British crooners of alt-rock, including The Jam’s Paul Weller and The Velvet Underground’s John Cale.

The Best of the Corrs features many of the Irish band's best-known songs from the mid- to late '90s, conveniently compiled onto one disc. Featured songs include "Right Time," "Dreams," "What Can I Do," and "Runaway," in addition to 15 others. Since the Corrs only released a handful of albums during the era captured on this disc, The Best of the Corrs isn't quite a vast as you'd expect a best-of collection to be. However, it's still a nice one-stop album for casual fans as well as those curious about the Corrs and not yet ready to begin exploring the group's LPs.

Emerging from the spirit of late Russian nationalism and ending his career with a thorny, individual language steeped in 12-tone principles, Stravinsky assumed a number of aesthetic guises throughout the course of his development while always retaining a distinctive, essential identity.

The Rite of Spring is a ballet and orchestral concert work by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. It was written for the 1913 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes company; the original choreography was by Vaslav Nijinsky with stage designs and costumes by Nicholas Roerich. When first performed at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées on 29 May 1913, the avant-garde nature of the music and choreography caused a sensation. Many have called the first-night reaction a "riot" or "near-riot", though this wording did not come about until reviews of later performances in 1924, over a decade later. Although designed as a work for the stage, with specific passages accompanying characters and action, the music achieved equal if not greater recognition as a concert piece and is widely considered to be one of the most influential musical works of the 20th century.
