For centuries they've lived in secret among northern England's green and misted hills. Creatures of extraordinary beauty, power, and sensuality, they possess the ability to shape-shift from human to dragon and back again. Now their secret-and their survival-is threatened by a temptation that will break every boundary….
Over the last half-decade, The Pineapple Thief, led by musical polymath Bruce Soord and bolstered by the involvement of master drummer Gavin Harrison, has rapidly ascended to the upper echelons of Europe’s Alternative Rock scene.
A deluxe 4CD set containing the complete sessions from Bruce Soord’s acoustic live performances streamed during the UK lockdown.
"Someone Here Is Missing" marked a significant step forward for the band, as frontman Bruce Soord honed and perfected his songwriting and created a work which he described as, "a record of dark edges, full of love and regret." This remastered version of the album also features tracks taken from the EP "Show A Little Love" and is presented in a digipack with an 8-page booklet.
It doesn't take long to realize that the Pineapple Thief surely must have studied their Radiohead albums prior to writing/recording their 2010 album, Someone Here Is Missing. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but Pineapple Thief singer/guitarist Bruce Soord has his Thom Yorke-isms down pat - as evidenced by his vocal delivery throughout the album…
The Pineapple Thief, one of the leading lights of Europe’s experimental rock domain, led by post-progressive mastermind Bruce Soord and reinforced by Gavin Harrison (King Crimson) on drums, have announced the multi format release of “Nothing But The Truth” on Kscope on 22nd October…
Over the course of 11 previous albums, The Pineapple Thief have established a body of work that straddles the line between stirring, accessible indie rock and musically adventurous prog. Led by chief songwriter/guitarist/frontman Bruce Soord, TPT almost always work conceptually, framing albums in thematically linked compositions that never fall prey to excess or reckless self-indulgence…
With Your Wilderness, Bruce Soord's the Pineapple Thief shift their musical focus away from their exploration of polished rock so evident on 2012's All the Wars and 2014's Magnolia, and back toward contemporary prog. Drummer Dan Osborne, who made his debut with the band on Magnolia, proved short-lived in his role; he has been replaced by Porcupine Tree/King Crimson kit man Gavin Harrison. Soord also enlisted guests including Supertramp's John Helliwell on clarinet, Caravan's string player/arranger Geoffrey Richardson, Godsticks' guitarist Darran Charles, and a four-voice choir. Harrison's addition can't be overstated. His playing extends the reach of their musicality exponentially.
The album title denotes themes of isolation, loneliness, and alienation - not unfamiliar ones in PT's oeuvre. That said, they've never been explored with such a brooding focus as they are here…
