The Terror

"The Terror" is the long-awaited release by The Flaming Lips. Produced by Dave Fridmann, it features nine original compositions that reflect a darker-hued spectrum than previous works, along with a more inward-looking lyrical perspective than one might expect. The Terror is a bold and expressive journey that has evolved over the band’s nearly 30-year career of sonic delights that ebbs and flows with breathtaking splashes of darkness and light, pleasure and pain, chaos and order. A mysterious criminal mastermind plots a spectacular gold robbery, then after the robbery is completed he makes sure his gang is caught by the police, keeps the gold and disappears. After his former accomplices are released from prison, they go searching for their former boss to take their revenge and get their share of the loot.

This film explores the causes of the evil that led to the 9/11 attacks, by documenting 20 years of relations between Washington, the Arab countries, Pakistan and Europe, with the invaluable participation of those who witnessed events (politicians, diplomats, secret agents and former members of Al Qaida).
