It is here that we discover, under the fingers of the pianist Emanuele Torquati (who has already signed an integral of the piano of Roussel and that of Zemlinsky), half a dozen major works of this unknown composer on this side of the In the Atlantic, written between 1910 and 1919-alas, Griffes died at the age of thirty-six from the Spanish flu, which ravaged the entire planet; If not, it seems obvious that he would have continued his ascent and would have offered not only to America but to the planet the image of a highly exploratory, inventive composer, at the forefront of his time. His Sonata of 1919 already has many characteristics that would not have denied a Prokofiev.
