When we look past the extended meditations of the sonatas into the rest of Schubert's piano music, we tend hardly to see beyond the Wanderer Fantasy and the Impromptus. This undervalues the composer's contribution to the work for his instrument, as the Italian pianist Alberto Miodini reveals on an extensive exploration of the sometimes slighter and lighter but often just shorter works he composed through his all-too-short career.

Different Stages (2014). As its name indicates it, “Different Stages” is a collection of live tracks that Bjorn Jeppesen has performed in various locations and through many EM festivals. From Sweden's Nordberg Festival to the Awakenings Festival of England while passing by the very famous E-Live in Holland, without forgetting his performance at the Germany's Raumzeit Festival, this 2nd live album from Nattefrost follows a chronological order of these performances which took place from July 2010 until September 2012.

Casualties of Cool is a project by prolific musician/producer Devin Townsend, who handles vocals, guitars, bass, and keyboards on the album, and Ché Aimee Dorval who handles vocals, and guitars. The duo is helped out by a varity of session musicians.

Jean-Efflam Bavouzet returns for the second volume of his survey of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas. The project, set to conclude with Vol. 3 in 2014, runs alongside his complete recording of Haydn’s Piano Sonatas. Vol. 1 of the Beethoven series was critically acclaimed, BBC Music calling the performances ‘distinguished and virtuosic’ and Fanfare remarking that ‘his readings will withstand the test of time’. In this release Bavouzet performs the sonatas published between 1800 and 1804.

Casualties of Cool is the debut album of country rock group Casualties of Cool, consisting of Canadian musicians Devin Townsend and Ché Aimee Dorval.

21 years after No-Man's debut and 10 years after Bowness's previous solo release My Hotel Year, Tim Bowness returns on the Inside Out label with his ambitious second solo album, Abandoned Dancehall Dreams. Produced by Bowness and mixed by his No-Man band partner Steven Wilson, the album features performances from Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Anna Phoebe (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and members of the No-Man live band (Stephen Bennett, Michael Bearpark, Pete Morgan, Steven Wilson, Andrew Booker and Steve Bingham).

A massive live set from Cannonball Adderley – and a record that really shows the growth he'd undergone in just a few short years! The album's done in close collaboration with David Axelrod – who'd handled Cannon's big live dates for Capitol in the 60s – but this record is much more freewheeling, open-ended, fuzz, funky, and electric overall! Tracks are all nice and long, and really trip out in the best way – with keyboards from George Duke in the core group, plus some heavy basslines from Walter Booker, drums from Roy McCurdy, and guitar from Mike Deasy on a number of key tracks.
