Tim Collins

It is a stroke of luck for the German jazz scene that New Yorker Tim Collins came to Munich twelve years ago. The 45-year-old belongs to the small group of the world’s best vibraphone players.

The 60's Collection is a box set featuring eight Judy Collins albums from the 1960s, including: A Maid Of Constant Sorrow, Golden Apples of the Sun, Judy Collins 3, Judy Collins' Fifth Album, The Judy Collins Concert, In My Life, Wildflowers and Who Knows Where the Time Goes. The collection features popular songs "Both Sides Now", "Someday Soon", "Turn, Turn, Turn! - To Everything There Is A Season", "Suzanne" and more!

Tim Burgess – as self-effacing a band leader, solo star, label runner, repeat memoirist and all-round caffeinated can-do kid as you’ll find – would certainly shrink from the latter accolade. “A hero??” he’d likely mutter with a shake of his boyish mop. “For playing some records?”

Childhood friends Mulo Francel and Didi Lowka founded the ensemble Quadro Nuevo in 1996. The adventurous artists have since travelled to countless places from Helsinki to Hong Kong, from the Caucasus to Carnegie Hall in New York.
Due to their daring way of playing music, they won the ECHO twice, a golden Record, the German Record Critics' Award and several jazz Awards.

"Use Me" introduces and throws the spotlight on the fantastic voice of Singaporean vocalist Vanessa Fernandez. This album of audiophile quality covers of soul and R&B classics from the 70s and 80s was done in an 'unplugged' style with acoustic instruments and arrangements used on all of the tracks.

The third and most seasoned Drugdealer album, Hiding In Plain Sight, almost didn't happen at all. Frustrated and insecure with his own singing voice prior to the pandemic, Drugdealer founder and primary songwriter Michael Collins was nearly ready to throw in the towel. While attending Mexican Summer's annual Marfa Myths festival, a chance encounter with artist and composer Annette Peacock changed his outlook. Collins says, "I told her my plight, then I played her a song, and she told me I wasn't singing high enough for my speaking voice. When I returned to LA, I started coming up with new progressions, which I'd modulate up three half steps. It forced me to find a new way to sing."

Singer, guitarist, flautist (and practitioner of the double tin whistle), John is also a member of celebrated traditional group Skipper’s Alley and is joined here by bandmate Ultan O’Brien (also of Slow Moving Clouds).

“Sonic Rebirth” begins where the first album ended, both musically and lyrically. Vocalist Vladimir Lalic once again begins with the words “I Am Here”, which also mark the first and last words on “Sonic Birth”. The new release can once again be characterized as progressive metal with a range of elements of the entire progressive genre, this time with even more prog, more catchy melodies, but also more metal and heaviness. “Sonic Rebirth” marks the logical continuation of its predecessor “Sonic Birth”, and can be understood as the second part of a musical, lyrical and overall sonic concept.

Michael Lessac's sole long-playing record was produced by John Hammond, and features Paul Motian on the drums, John Castronove on keyboards, Howard Collins on guitar, and Jeff Levine on bass, with Eric Weissberg (guitar) and Tony Glover (harmonica). The sound is elegant, slightly progressive folk, in the manner of Tim Buckley or Eric Andersen, with songs whose titles sometimes play on familiar tracks by other artists, notably Simon & Garfunkel with "My 67th Walk in the Park" and "A Hazy Shade of Red." The singing and playing are pretty enough, and the melodies are attractive and the title is one of the funnier in Columbia's output but Sleep Faster, We Need the Pillow was never memorable enough to attract much attention.
