Documentary feature following the quest of Texan inventor Tim Jenison, to uncover the methods used by 17th century Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer in his art. Vermeer is most famous for his painting 'Girl With a Pearl Earring', and has puzzled many analysts with his ability to achieve a photo-realistic effect in his work. Jenison sets out to find an answer to the mystery - a quest that takes him to Delft in the Netherlands, where Vermeer produced his work; Yorkshire, in England, to talk to influential English artist David Hockney; and to Buckingham Palace, to view a Vermeer painting owned by the royal family.

Noted actor Tim Roth made his directorial debut with this powerful drama about a family in crisis. Tom (Freddie Cunliffe) is an awkward and troubled 15-year-old boy whose isolation increases when his family moves from London to a remote community in the Devon countryside. Tom, his 18-year-old sister Jessie (Lara Belmont), his father (Ray Winstone), and his pregnant mother (Tilda Swinton) live in close quarters in a small cottage; they sometimes bathe in the kitchen, and they have grown used to casual nudity around the house. But one day, Tom sees his father in a sexual embrace with Jessie. He tries to discuss what he's seen with her, but she refuses to talk about it. Unable to stand the tension in the household after his mother takes the seriously ill baby to the hospital, Tom confronts his father, who angrily denies the truth. Tom is finally forced to take drastic action to stop his vengeful and violent father. Written by Alexander Stuart from his own novel, The War Zone received an enthusiastic response at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival and was named Best New British Feature at the 1999 Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Tim Marlow takes an exclusive look behind the scenes of Carsten Höller's Test Site installation in Tate Modern's Turbine Hall. The Test Site is a set of five stainless steel slides intended to propel members of the public down from the highest floors of the Tate Modern to the very bottom. The slides invite visitors to become part of the art, move out of their comfort zone, free their senses and slide. Somewhere between a monumental set of sculptural forms and an oversized, rather menacing, playground, Höller describes his creation as "a unique experience which forces you to let go, to give up control and think, oh my God, I'm going into the abyss." Featuring a rare interview with Höller and with unique access from the early stages through to the opening day, this film charts the progress of a fascinating art project.
