Following her celebrated first stint with Fairport Convention and the dissolution of the short-lived folk rock super-group Fotheringay, Denny recorded a run of fine solo albums during the '70s, interrupted by an artistically-if not commercially-successful reunion with Fairport. THE NORTH STAR GRASSMAN, the first of those solo albums, was co-produced and engineered by the ever-reliable John Wood. It's business as usual as far as participating musicians go. Denny's former Fotheringay companions are present, and ex-Fairport guitar prodigy Richard Thompson is all over the album.

"Star Guitar" is the second single from The Chemical Brothers' fourth album, Come With Us, which features four mixes of the hit plus the non-LP "Base 6". This was released by Astralwerks/Virgin.

This CD single also features excerpts from 702's album Star and a then-newly signed artist to Motown named Latif. He has three snippets on this disc too. His career went nowhere after the release of his first and only album for Motown.

The 68 pages book included in the box contains texts and essays by Joachim Hentschel, Frédéric Schwilden, Rainer Schmidt, Michael Lentz, Wolfgang Höbel and Pat Blashillill, as well as rare photographs of Anton Corbijn, Ellen von Unwerth, Jürgen Teller, Jim Rocket and the recently deceased Daniel Josefsohn.
