The 12th studio album from Munich-based trio Colour Haze, titled In Her Garden and featuring an array of tracks named for plant-life including and so on, lands less than three full years after its predecessor, 2014’s To the Highest Gods We Know. Like that offering, In Her Garden is a sprawling, 2LP affair - its 72 minutes fit on one CD, however, which She Said didn’t - rife with progressive forward steps on the part of the self-recording three-piece guitarist/vocalist Stefan Koglek, bassist Philipp Rasthofer and drummer Manfred Merwald, who work with Jan Faszbender on modular synth, Rhodes, Hammond and, on the 63-second interlude “sdg I” and the nine-minute “Labyrinthe,” an arrangement of bass-clarinet, trombone and tuba.

This is my first exposure to Eveline’s Dust so I had no idea what I was heading into when I gave it a spin. What i immediately noticed is that this is an album drenched in Porcupine Treeness, with a nice helping of Spock’s Beard in places. This, to me, is a good thing. After i finished this one, I went back and listened to their first album, The Painkeeper (2016), and found it to be a bit more laid back (Well… they had an EP, called Time Changes (2012) before that). This one has a harder edge to it, so naturally I dig it a lot more.
