That's really a matter of taste - he had never played so hard before and never again after that! Instead of his meager minimalism, which he has refined more and more over the past ten years, here, on his third recording, he relies on screeching, yowling lead guitars (Will Kimbrough - as always) and - it's hard to believe it - comes close to Tom Petty! Although he, Petty, by no means sounds as edgy and aggressive as Snider in 1998.
