Mind Maze is Trees Speak’s fifth album to be released on Soul Jazz Records in the space of little over two years. "Trees Speak is music as cosmological translation, borrowing from Can and Miles Davis' Bitches Brew-era practice of studio-as-composition-tool, where lengthy improvisations coalesce into indelible flights of fancy with razor blade-assisted tape edits. Trees Speak operates between the subconscious and the unconscious, the radiant and the eclipse, the micro and the macro.

When the band Trees Speak, coming out of nowhere, released an exclusive one-off 100-pressing white label 45, described as CAN/NEU! meets LIQUID LIQUID, it sold out so quickly (in less than 30 mins - one for sale on Discogs now at £400!) that Soul Jazz Records decided to release their album almost immediately.

This new release is a vast leap into an ocean of space and sound, a quantum leap into cybernetics, biology, anti-gravity, time travel, dream speech and transfiguration. A seriously next step release!

This is Trees Speak’s third album on Soul Jazz Records to be released within one year – and it’s amazing! The new album ‘PostHuman’ blends 1970s German electronic, ‘motorik’ Krautrock instrumentals, haunting, powerful 1960s & 1970s soundtracks, with a New York no-wave electronic synth-guitar analogue DIY-ness! Trees Speak’ segue together all these elements into their powerful new album, a high-concept collage of retro-futurist science-fiction music, fantastically illustrated by the artist Eric Lee, a dramatic vision of life after humanity. Trees Speak are from Tucson and their music often draws on the cosmic night-time magic of Arizona’s natural desert landscapes. ‘Trees Speak’ relates to the idea of future technologies storing information and data in trees and plants – using them as hard drives – and the idea that Trees communicate collectively. ‘PostHuman’ manages to take the listener deep into a unique musical world of unknown visions of the past and future.
