Back in the Game has had to wait two years, for the worst of the pandemic to pass, to be born, and to be presented. Maybe that’s why it has grown and was polished as is made up of fourteen songs of enormous quality. The Spaniards from the city of Murcia on the South East coast manage to deliver a very highly rated product in the AOR landscape. They don’t sound like amateurs and have a keen chemistry that makes their music very fluid and gel smoothly, featuring all your trademarks of a seasonsed AOR/Melodic rock outfit. Starting All Over, first birthed as an EP in 2019 kicks things off and the guitars, excellently wrapped by the rhythmic base and the keyboards, captivate us. Another standout tune comes via “Nothing Left for Us”, featuring some nostalgia and class as a romantic theme.
HEART LINE is the new AOR/Melodic Rock project by French guitarist and producer Yvan Guillevic (YGAS, PYG, United Guitars). Surrounded by a fantastic team, the group consists of vocalist Emmanuel Creis (Shadyon, Equinox), keyboardist Jorris Guilbaud (Devoid, Shadyon), drummer Walter Français (Shadyon) and bassist Dominique Braud (YGAS, EBH). Formed in 2020, HEART LINE has strongly been inspired by legendary 80’s bands, from Whitesnake, to Foreigner, Journey, Winger, Bad English, Giant, and many more. Powerful and melodic, the quintet takes us back to the beating heart of the 80’s, with heroic guitar solos and soaring vocal lines, supported by a stunning rhythm section and virtuoso keyboard licks. The brilliant artwork was designed by Stan W. Decker. HEART LINE are currently working on setting up a tour for 2022.
Lenny Williams’ new CD, Still in the Game, is a testament to his staying power. The 12-track album has a little something for everyone, from contemporary R&B to smooth jazz to down home blues. Actually, Still in the Game evolves from contemporary to old school, but still in a contemporary package, musically speaking. As with many independent albums released by legendary R&B artists, on Still in the Game the keyboard is used to replace horn arrangements, and all too often the drum program can take away from both the song and the artist. Those flaws aside, the album does grow on you as it progresses.

It's All in the Game is the fifth album (and first completely English album) by Nena. The songs are translations for the Nena album Feuer und Flamme (Fire And Flame). The German tracks were re-written by Canadian singer Lisa Dalbello. A new version of Anyplace Anywhere Anytime was re-recorded by Nena as a half German, half English duet with Kim Wilde in 2002, and was a big success.
