Tribute to Django

The Jazz Club series is an attractive addition to the Verve catalogue. With it's modern design and popular choice of repertoire, the Jazz Club is not only opened for Jazz fans, but for everyone that loves good music. This is a Beautiful compilation of Stephane Grappelli in the 1970s; in addition to "Hot Club of France" style of bands (with two guitars and a bass accompanying the great French fiddler), there are also some tracks with piano (featuring, among others, George Shearing).

Strictly speaking, this isn't just a guitar tribute to the Beatles, although stringed instruments that are plucked, strummed, and otherwise manipulated are in abundance, representing styles and sounds that will recall Django Reinhardt at one moment and the Mahavishnu Orchestra at the next. Toots Thielemans adds some astonishingly tasteful harmonica (and whistling) to "Yesterday" and Thomas Dawson's organ is almost a lead instrument on "Come Together."

At the age of 12, Alexandre Cavaliere met Didier Lockwood, who invited him to Paris, giving his career a flying start. Then, everything followed naturally. Alexandre Cavaliere has been touring the international scene and has an impressive list of performances: at the Princess Grace Theatre in Monaco, as the opening act for Michel Jonasz at the Olympia, at the Espoo Jazz Festival in Finland, at the Brosella Folk & Jazz Festival and at the Djangofolllies, or again, thanks to Dorado Schmitt, in New York, at the Django Reinhardt Festival at Birdland.

Daniel Weltlinger was born in Sidney, Australia, but has always traveled the world and calls the German capital his home. Weltlinger is best known for his distinctive sound and improvisational approach in the genres of gypsy swing, jazz, klezmer and experimental / free improvised music.
