In den neun Stücken, die Ulrike Haage auf ihrem Album Himmelsbaum versammelt hat, regiert der Geist von Reduktion und Konzentration. Ganz ruhig, mit entspanntem, unaufgeregtem Anschlag am Flügel stellt die Pianistin, Komponistin und Klangkünstlerin ihre Musik vor, gibt ihr Ruhe und Raum, damit sie ihren melodischen Zauber in einfachen Motiven entfalten kann.

The highlights of September are the radio premiere of “A funeral march for the first Cosmonaut” on September 15 and the release of the music of this Requiem on September 27. The text was written by painter and poetess Etel Adnan 50 years ago. She committed me to write the music and turn her highly prophetic and still actual poem into a requiem not only for Juri Gagarin but also for our world. I did record her this year as one of the three voices in this piece. After our intense and joyful preproduction Etel did wish me good luck for this journey into a “new prehistory”. Fra le stregate geometrie di Longo, che congiungono Trieste e Budapest, l'Europa e il Mondo, scorre un fiume impetuoso di ricordi che sgorgano dai sedimenti limacciosi del tempo: un enigmatico plico giunto dall'Ungheria fa tornare alla mente del matematico triestino Guido Marenzi una storia d'amore e di follia che ha vissuto a Budapest vent'anni prima e dalla quale è uscito spezzato. Imprigionato tra la morsa dell'eros e quella del destino, accompagnato da personaggi elusivi, dalla musica greve del "Castello di Barbablù" e dal pensiero ossessivo della morte, Guido ripercorre per ventiquattr'ore quella lontana vicenda, e dal lavorio della memoria emerge trasformato. Sul finire del giorno, si sente pervaso da una mitigata speranza: liberandosi dal groviglio di esaltazione e di dolore che l'ha rinchiuso, vede comparire un mondo diverso, più dolce e placato.
