Understanding the Universe: An Introduction to Physics and Astrophysics by James B. Seaborn
English | PDF(True) | 1998 | 316 Pages | ISBN : 0387982957 | 26.3 MB

For the last eighteen years, I have been teaching an introductory course in as trophysics. The course is intended for nonscience majors satisfying a general education requirement in natural science. It is a physics course with applications in astronomy. The only prerequisite is the high school mathematics required for ad mission to the university. For a number of years, I used an astronomy text, which I supplemented with lecture notes on physics. There are many good astronomy texts available, but this was not a satisfactory state of affairs, since the course is a physics course. The students needed a physics text that focused on astronomical applications.

Gravity, Black Holes, and the Very Early Universe: An Introduction to General Relativity and Cosmology (Repost)

Gravity, Black Holes, and the Very Early Universe: An Introduction to General Relativity and Cosmology by Tai L. Chow
English | PDF | 2008 | 285 Pages | ISBN : 0387736298 | 6.1 MB

In the early 1900s, Albert Einstein formulated two theories that would forever change the landscape of physics: the Special Theory of Relativity and the General Theory of Relativity. By 1925, quantum mechanics had been born out of the dissection of these two theories, and shortly after that, relativistic quantum field theory. We now had in place some important ties between the laws of physics and the types of particle interactions the new physics was uncovering.

Introduction to Particle and Astroparticle Physics: Multimessenger Astronomy and its Particle Physics Foundations

Introduction to Particle and Astroparticle Physics: Multimessenger Astronomy and its Particle Physics Foundations, Second Edition by Alessandro De Angelis
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 755 Pages | ISBN : 3319781804 | 47.55 MB

This book introduces particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. Starting from an experimental perspective, it provides a unified view of these fields that reflects the very rapid advances being made. This new edition has a number of improvements and has been updated to describe the recent discovery of gravitational waves and astrophysical neutrinos, which started the new era of multimessenger astrophysics; it also includes new results on the Higgs particle.
