Bacewicz was the most prominent Polish female composer of the twentieth century and a renowned violinist who, by contemporary accounts, was surpassed only by Ginette Neveu and David Oistrakh. She left a legacy of over 200 compositions, many of which have never been heard in the West.

SYMPHONY NO. 3 from composer Michael Kurek is a tribute to the history and natural beauty of England. The work is fundamentally Romantic, but is also influenced by Edwardian English music. The composer draws inspiration from personal memories, nature, poetry, and art; “Upon a Walk in the English Countryside,” recalls the composer’s emotional reaction to the lush, pastoral beauty of the English countryside. “Stonehenge” reflects the austerity and timelessness of that ancient monument, while “The Lady of Shalott” nods to Waterhouse’s colorful, pre-Raphaelite depiction of Tennyson’s famous poem. The symphony’s conclusion, “The Major Oak of Sherwood Forest,” celebrates the roughly 1000-year-old tree in Nottinghamshire and is perhaps the most climactic of Kurek’s works.

No matter how one approaches the equation, the combination of the words "voice" and "soul music" always gives the same result : Aretha ! Throughout her early career, the one who was nicknamed Lady Soul kneaded with her unique voice gospel, funk, rhythm'n'blues, jazz and soul, like no other. A voice that grew up alongside those of her sisters at the Detroit church in her pastor father's choir. The legendary John H. Hammond, who discovered the very young Aretha Franklin, signed her to Columbia in the early 1960s, eager to make her a jazz singer. But after a few sessions (anecdotal in terms of the quality of what the coming years will offer…), she spends in Jerry Wexler's Atlantic stable.

"Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky)" is the 19th studio album by American singer-songwriter Aretha Franklin. Released on June 25, 1973, by Atlantic Records, It was the first Atlantic album by Aretha to miss the Top 25 of the main Billboard chart. (It peaked at #30 but reached #2 on the R&B albums listing.) This album was originally planned to be a straight jazz album with songs like "Moody's Mood" and "Just Right Tonight", but producers Franklin and Quincy Jones took a detour and produced songs like "Mister Spain" and the title cut. Notable songs include the #1 R&B and Top 20 pop single "Angel" written by Aretha's younger sister, Carolyn Franklin, as well as a cover of "Somewhere" which features Franklin on piano and Phil Woods on alto saxophone. This recording was reissued on compact disc through Rhino Records in the 1990s. The song "Master of Eyes" was included as the tenth track on the reissue. Even though it was a single, it was not included on the first release.

Unforgettable: A Tribute to Dinah Washington is the fifth studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin. Released on February 18, 1964, by Columbia Records, The album is a tribute dedicated to the recently deceased singer Dinah Washington. The sessions were recorded in New York. A few tunes were cut with strings in order to bring out the essential ballad character of the songs (with the help of Bob Mersey's arranging); most of the tracks, though, were made with the assistance of a small and sympathetic accompanying group for which Mersey supplied minimal written guidance. Reissue by Legacy's Rhythm & Soul Series in 1995 included "Lee Cross". This song was recorded at the same time as the other tunes and is the only song not released on the original album. It was first released several years later on Take It Like You Give It and became one of Franklin's biggest hits on Columbia.

"The Electrifying Aretha Franklin" is the second studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin, originally released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. The album which is also known under its working title "The Incomparable Aretha Franklin", was recorded at Columbia Recording Studios, 799 Seventh Avenue, New York. This is a great piece of early '60s R&B from the undisputed Queen!

The first compilation based on Franklin's successes of 1967-1968 on Atlantic. Included among the 14 selections here are all of the big bits (nine of which went Top 10) that established Franklin's enduring reputation, from "I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)" to "I Say A Little Prayer." It sometimes got as good as this afterwards, but it never got better.
