Off the heels of Grammy-nominated album, Heart of Brazil, comes jazz clarinet icon Eddie Daniels' new project, Night Kisses. Paying tribute to the world-renowned Brazilian musician/composer Ivan Lins, it brings Daniels together with legendary jazz pianists Dave Grusin and Bob James, plus top-shelf trio-Josh Nelson, Kevin Axt, Mauricio Zottarelli - and the Grammy-winning Harlem Quartet. Features songs from Lins' classic `70s/'80s albums and new arrangements by Kuno Schmid and Josh Nelson.
Anne Paceo appears as one of the more brilliant young French drummers in France. Her subtile touch on drums and cymbals is very personal. She met pianist Leonardo Montana and bassist Joan Eche-Puig at the CNSM in Paris (National music school) as they were students. Triphase is the name of the album and the name of the trio. It that stands apart from the rest of today’s productions’s, the themes and melodies remains in your mind as soon you hear them. Much more than just another Trio, this is a brilliant mix of 3 souls and 3 characters offering a taste of Catalonia, Brazil and Africa. Both three young artists are simple, spontaneous, full of energy and humor, found of encounters and exchange. Triphase is now touring with success all over the world.
Grouped together, as they are on the double-disc From Q with Love, producer/arranger/conductor Quincy Jones' love songs sound an awful lot alike. The high-gloss production, the silky smooth harmonies, the lead singers – who all happen to bear a strong vocal resemblance to Jones' most famous client, Michael Jackson – and even the tunes themselves have a one-note, suite-like sweep to them that can be mind-numbingly tedious after a couple hours. It helps that From Q with Love is loaded with hits from Jones' past 30-plus years (Patti Austin and James Ingram's "Baby, Come to Me" and "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?," Ingram's "One Hundred Ways" and "Just Once," Jackson's "Human Nature," and a handful of tracks from Jones' 1989 golden showpiece Back on the Block.
The Dude is a 1981 album by American music impresario, conductor, record producer, musical arranger, film composer and trumpeter Quincy Jones. The album featured the debut of vocalist James Ingram on the singles "Just Once" and "One Hundred Ways". This album is a milestone in contemporary music!
