On Sirenas, Los Angeles quartet Allah-Las explore psychic vistas of atmospheric instrumental storytelling. The band’s sixth album coalesces around a more spontaneous soundscape shaped by freeform experimentation, intuitive vibrations, and open-ended moments of inner and outer worlding. Channeling a fluid sweep of influences, from The Durutti Column, I.A.O., and Popol Vuh’s scores for Werner Herzog to Jacques Cousteau’s expansion of The Silent World beneath the ocean’s surface, Sirenas mediates on subconscious grooves loosely imagined and deeply felt, and opens up previously unimagined pathways in the process.

Renascent marks the long-awaited return of legendary Manchester band The Durutti Column their first new studio album in over fifteen years, produced by Keir Stewart.Built around the guitar playing of Vini Reilly, the album moves between tonal atmosphere and structure: warm ambient sounds, piano, beats and guest appearances of a new generation.

The Durutti Column has long since proven that not every post-punk band needed to sound angry to sound urgent. Vini Reilly's guitar work—glassy, unhurried, more interested in mood than message—announced itself in 1980 on The Return of the Durutti Column. The album's production history has become as mythologized as its music: Frustrated by studio gimmickry, Reilly reportedly walked out on producer Martin Hannett's sessions after two days and the surviving results were spare enough to let his playing speak entirely for itself. That instinct for immediacy over polish never left him, even as the band spent the '80s pushing outward into chamber arrangements, drum-machine pulses, and the kind of wistful, faintly classical melancholy that made records like LC and Without Mercy feel unclassifiable in their own moment and durable ever since.
