With more than three decades of Viking-centric melodic metal under its belt, the Norse legends (from upstate New York) Manowar have lost none of their live ferocity….
Swedish epic power metallers SABATON released their first-ever live album, "World War Live: Battle Of The Baltic Sea" on August 5 via Nuclear Blast Records.Commented bassist Pär Sundström: "Over the years so many people have told us we should make a live album and finally we fell to the demands of all of you, our fans."'The World War Tour' was amazing and we wanted to record it and keep the shows alive forever. So, during the magic night aboard the SABATON Cruise 2010 we recorded the whole show and now we stand ready to release it as the first-ever official SABATON live CD.
One of the most popular funk groups of the '70s, War were also one of the most eclectic, freely melding soul, Latin, jazz, blues, reggae, and rock influences into an effortlessly funky whole. Although War's lyrics were sometimes political in nature (in keeping with their racially integrated lineup), their music almost always had a sunny, laid-back vibe emblematic of their Southern California roots. War kept the groove loose, and they were given over to extended jamming in fact, many of their studio songs were edited together out of longer improvisations.
Gods of War Live is the third live album by heavy metal band Manowar. It was recorded in 2007 during the band's tour promoting the Gods of War album.
A month before the release of their sixth album in early 2001, the Manic Street Preachers organised a one-off gig in Cuba. Louder than War contains footage of the entire concert (famously attended by President Fidel Castro), as well as the group's caper around the island. The country was chosen by the Manics because of Cuba's anti-American stance, a position that band members supported and have drawn upon in their material. Superbly produced and edited, the end result however fails to represent the group's visit and views in a positive light. Reading between the lines, it's obvious that their trip was just as much a challenge to Americanisation as Wham's 1985 tour of China.
