Storytelling and making – craft and narrative, and the ways in which they are both enabled and complicated by the presence of music – lie at the heart of Matthew Kaner’s compositional world, as revealed on this debut album devoted to his work.

The Adventures of Gamba, was a book of children's literature published in 1972. It’s a grand adventure story of a small mouse and hero and the much-loved tale has now become an epic animated motion picture.

Benjamin Wallfisch is one of the most exciting new names in film music! His music has been heard in such films as Desert Dancer, Hours and Summer In February. Now his magnificent orchestral score for the Japanese animated film Gamba comes to CD! This is a grand symphonic adventure, written it the great tradition of the classics and recorded with the Chamber Orchestra of London at Abbey Road Studios.

The forest has always been an important place for Olivia Gay. She wanders through the woods alone, listening not only to its silence but also to its murmurs. It is a place of creation where her cellist’s instincts are awakened and where she can find peace and quiet outside the city. She joined forces with the Office national des forêts (ONF) in 2022 to raise public awareness of such spaces by inviting spectators to concerts given in the heart of the forest or in natural site. This album continues this project and includes works by Jacques Offenbach, Camille Pépin, Edward Elgar, John Luther Adams and Max Richter; the programme as a whole is under the aegis of Antonin Dvořák’s magnificent Silent Woods , which also lent its name to this initiative.
