A few months ago I asked a few of my musician and producer friends to revisit my last album “By Any Beats Necessary”. I assigned a track to each remixer and let them run with it. Thanks to all of them for accepting the challenge. The album will be available in stores starting on November 10th in a limited edition LP and on all streaming and online stores. “By Any Remixes Necessary” will be the first LP in the world equipped with an NFC chip which will enable you to access additional contents by placing your smartphone on the record cover. I will preview a first track on October 11th, and will attend the Image and Sound conference in Paris on October 14th to present this record.

Designed like a road trip, this "call of the wild" musical rewrite, leads us on a fabled road where blues, psychedelic rock, soul funk and hip-hop collide. Many guests (including Tricky & Ghostface Killah) will take part in this album, to be released on October 14th, the prelude to a worldwide tour which will begin in November in France.

The trip-hop performance moniker of one Jean-Christophe Le Saoût, Wax Tailor first emerged in the French electronica scene in 2004 (with the EP release Lost the Way), but didn't release his debut album until 2006. That debut, Tales of the Forgotten Melodies, was a hit both in France and in the United States, and made quite a dent on the CMJ charts that year. In 2007, Wax Tailor returned to the spotlight with his second full-length, Hope & Sorrow. Featuring vocalist Charlotte Savary and Ursula Rucker, this second album was enough of a success to warrant a number of live shows featuring Wax Tailor and his four-piece band.

Four years on from Smoker's Delight and, fortunately, little has changed for George Evelyn's Nightmares on Wax project. While he could've easily been forgiven for following the nu-beat crowd and inserting a few prescient big beats into the blunted trip-hop formula, it's all clear from the opener, "Les Nuits" (a NoW theme of sorts, repeated from Smoker's Delight), that at hand is a return to form, not a turn away from the trip-hop style that took such a beating during the late '90s. The lazy-day soul samples driving tracks like "Morse" and "Finer" are perfect examples that instrumental hip-hop doesn't have to resort to the usual producer's bag of tricks to make for music leagues beyond the average. There's also a focus here lacking from previous material; fewer interludes make for a more concentrated listening experience…

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a new 3 Disc digipack edition (of two CDs and an NTSC – Region Free DVD) of a previously unreleased concert by WAX, recorded in Harrogate in November 1987. WAX was a collaboration between two highly respected song writers and musicians, namely American ANDREW GOLD and GRAHAM GOULDMAN. Both Gold and Gouldman had enjoyed successful careers before coming together. Andrew Gold had recorded four acclaimed albums for Asylum Records and had enjoyed hits with such classic songs as ‘Lonely Boy’, ‘Never Let Her Slip Away’, ‘Thank You For Being a Friend’ and ‘Kiss This One Goodbye’. Graham Gouldman had been a successful songwriter in the 1960s and was a member of 10CC from their formation in the early 1970s, being a co-writer of many of their hit singles and acclaimed albums.
