Shoot the Messenger
The series follows Daisy Channing, a young reporter trying to balance a messy personal life with a burgeoning career. Things begin to go sideways for Daisy when she witnesses a murder she thinks is gang-related, only to find herself slowly drawn into an interconnected web of criminal and illicit sexual activity that reaches into the corridors of corporate and political power. It's the kind of story that will destroy lives, including those of her own family. With help from lead homicide detective Kevin Lutz, her editor Mary Foster and co-worker Simon Olenski, Daisy uncovers a cover-up so scandalous it could bring down the government.

The mere fact this review is of a band called ‘Evil’ should instantly inform you of their direct descendancy from the early 80s metal scene - there’s no way that name would have lingered untaken long in the scramble for any word that sounded vaguely metal. This is Copenhagen’s ‘legendary’ (according to the press release only) Evil, now a bunch of old men releasing their first full length having presumably spent the majority of their 33 year tenure separated following the early release of a only a couple of demos. The monicker is certainly a misleading one based on the clean, positive heavy metal sound of "Shoot the Messenger" which has absolutely nothing to do with the extreme end of the spectrum but which does, at times, throw across a tasty chorus or two in amongst some odd lyrics and a general satisfaction just to be releasing anything after all this time.

Mykola is an eccentric pacifist who wants to be useful to humanity. When the war begins at Donbass, Mykola’s naive world is collapsing as the militants kill his pregnant wife and burn his home to the ground. Recovered, he makes a cardinal decision and gets enlisted in a sniper company. Having met his wife’s killers, he emotionally breaks down and arranges “sniper terror” for the enemy. He’s saved from a senseless death by his instructor who himself gets mortally wounded. The death of a friend leaves a “scar” and Mykola is ready to sacrifice his life.
