È mezzanotte. Leila, giovane marocchina cresciuta in Francia, sta dormendo della piccola stanza che condivide insieme ai fratelli, quando la madre la sveglia. Le ordina di mettersi il suo vestito più bello e di preparare il tè per l'uomo seduto sul divano della sala: lo deve accogliere come fosse un re. Leila non lo conosce. Eppure tra pochi giorni quell'uomo diventerà suo marito. Perché così ha deciso suo padre e, se lei oserà ribellarsi, la punizione sarà terribile. Per Leila è l'inizio di un incubo. Suo marito la tratta come una schiava, la picchia, la umilia. Per tre volte Leila tenta il suicidio. Solo la nascita di suo figlio Ryad le dà la forza di ribellarsi. Carousel is the 1993 album by Leila El Khalifi, who goes by the name Leila K. THis was released by Urban Records via Polydor Germany.

Leila and Reza meet in a kind of celebration and fall for each other. Having discovered their love, they get married soon only to find out the infertility of Leila. That's when Reza's authoritative mother starts wheedling Leila to persuade Reza into second marriage for the sake of having a grandchild. Leila accepts at first but is unaware of her own strain threshold.

Two rising stars in today’s firmament of Baroque music performance, Leila Schayegh and Jörg Halubek, join forces to record one of the major challenges in their joint repertory: the six Bach Violin Sonatas, BWV 1014-1019. The collection’s title, 'Sei Suonate à Cembalo certato è Violino Solo', reflects the close partnership demanded of the violin and harpsichord players, with Bach moving away from the idea of continuo support for a solo instrument and constantly making new technical demands on the musicians and thereby approaching the concept of the triosonata. Completed by around 1725, most of these richly characterful works combine the Italian style and a cantabile tone with elements of German contrapuntal style. The artistic partnership of Schayegh and Halubek, now in its tenth year, has seen them record chamber music by Jean-Marie Leclair, CPE Bach and Giovanni Mossi but the Bach Violin Sonatas represents their first joint recording for Glossa.
