Waldo de los Ríos (7 September 1934 - 28 March 1977) was an Argentine composer, conductor and arranger.
De los Rios was born as Osvaldo Nicholas Ferrara in Buenos Aires into a musical family; his father was a musician and his mother a well known folk singer; he studied composition and arranging at the National Conservatory of Music under Alberto Ginastera and Teodoro Fuchs. He was inspired by an eclectic range of music and formed a musical group called "The Waldos" which crossed folk music with electronic sounds.
The Arab Orchestra of Barcelona was born in the late twentieth century in Barcelona and up musicians from different backgrounds, such Chefchaoen, Tangiers or Thessaloniki. Its founding members are Mohamed Soulimane (director and violin) and Mohamed Ayoub Bout (voice).
Conte de L'incroyable Amour is Tunisian composer and oud virtuoso Anouar Brahem's follow-up to his excellent ECM debut, Barzakh. Like its predecessor, this release contains original material that mixes Arabic music and jazz improvisation and features a stellar band comprised of some of Turkey's finest musicians (this time out Brahem is joined by clarinetist Barbaros Erkose, nay (reed flute) player Kudsi Ergune, and the percussionist from Barzakh, Lassad Hosni). In contrast to Barzakh's livelier mood, though, the sound here is more meditative and even stark at times, especially on solo flights by both Brahem ("Iram Retrouvee") and Erkose ("Etincelles") and by way of Erguner's ethereal improvisations ("Diversion"). The pace picks up on the sympathetically played and joyous ensemble piece "Conte de L'incroyable Amour" and on the impassioned Brahem and Erkose duet, "Nayzak.".
"Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti" (English: "Today I Want You") is a song written and first performed by Spanish singer-songwriter Miguel Gallardo. It was released as the first single from his studio album Autorretrato (1975). The song is about a man who confesses his love to a woman who is leaving that he is known for a long time. In 2007, Venezuelan recording artist Ricardo Montaner covered the song for his studio album, Las Mejores Canciones del Mundo, as one of the covers for the album. His version peaked #23 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and #1 in Venezuela. In 2013, Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández and American singer Christina Aguilera performed a duet cover of the song for the telenovela La tempestad.
