Throughout the 70s and 80s Rick Derringer appeared on numerous albums by artists including Alice Cooper, Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, Barbara Streisand and Kiss. This SACD compiling his debut and sophomore solo albums - "All American Boy" and "Spring Fever".

First up is an album of Themes From The Exorcist and other films – all familiar movie themes from the early 70s, penned by artists like Michel Legrand and Lalo Schifrin – but served up here by Ray's Button Down Brass in a very cool style – compressed funk, ala the best crime/cop modes of the time – but with lots of individual touches that make the songs very different than the original versions.

A posture somewhere between a down-and-out tv series cop and James Last. If you open the fold out cover the misleading signals continue: A b/w picture of an intellectual (the same man) and his flute; this might fit really well for Rachmaninoff!

Lester Raymond "Les" Brown, Sr. was an American clarinetist, saxophonist, big band leader and composer, best known for his nearly seven decades of work with the big band Les Brown and His Band of Renown. The Band of Renown began in the late 1930s, initially as the group Les Brown and His Blue Devils, led by Brown while he was a student at Duke University. He was the first president of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The band now performs under the direction of his son, Les Brown, Jr.
