The Tee Set Peter Tetteroo (vocals), Dill Dennink (guitar, flute, banjo), Joop Bloom (drums), Franklin Madjid (bass), and Hans Van Eijck (keyboards) was one of a handful of acts from Holland that made it onto the American charts in the late 1960s; others included the Shocking Blue ("Venus") and the George Baker Selection ("Little Green Bag"), both of whom had the same American representative, Jerry Ross. Recorded in 1969, "Ma Belle Amie" was a pleasant piece of pop/rock first issued in Holland, where it sold 100,000 copies (a major hit in the small Dutch market). "Ma Belle Amie" was heard by Ross and licensed for release in America, where it became their only major hit.

The package sorts through a mountain of never-issued acetates, and goes way past conventional disco or rare club collections – to showcase the special mixing talents these DJs brought to their re-presentation of the material – which was usually done on tape, then pressed onto acetate discs for their own private use! This is a disc made by one of the best piano players to come out of New Orleans, James Booker, playing with an all-star band of New Orleans musicians, most of whom Booker befriended during his days with Dr. John. The music sparkles, all the more amazing because it was recorded live in the L.A. area with no overdubs in 1973, and is just being released in 1995 because it was lost for 20 years. This disc hits a groove and does not quit, shifting from straight-ahead blues to an R&B beat, drifting into some complex Caribbean rhythms, moving off into some jazz riffs, but all the time maintaining the original blues feel it started with. All the players get to shine, but it is definitely James Booker's disc.
