A good collection of Australian music from the seventies, although often not the biggest hits of the included artists. It's also not all 'pop'. Quite alot of it is actually rock. The most notable inclusion here is Cheetah's "Walking in the Rain" a cover of the Ronette's 1964 original.

Whoever you are, you can’t have gone too far without coming across BBC America’s Killing Eve. What’s more, you’ll know its sultry soundtrack. Composers David Holmes, Jade Vincent and Keefus Ciancia — known collectively as Unloved — manage stupendous genre leaps to score the show’s winning mix of noir-ish cat-and-mouse chase and international intrigue recalling much of the soundtrack’s stellar featured tracks from The Troggs, Cat’s Eyes, Cigarettes After Sex and Brigitte Bardot.

This double-CD set lives up to its title, at least as a representative compilation of the period it covers – no vinyl compilation ever aspired to offer anything like the 64 tracks presented here, all dug out of the EMI vaults. Conceptually this is a killer collection, representing early dawning years of British rock, when acts like Vince Taylor & the Playboys, jazz trombonist Don Lang, and be-bop drummer Tony Crombie and his group the Rockets all competed for the public's attention, and the book was still being written on how to make (or succeed in) Rock & Roll.

Legend would have it that Rock'N'Roll was born in Memphis in 1954 when a young truck-driver by the name Elvis Presley opted to sing "Black Blues" his way. A legend that drastically over-simplifies reality, however, for the roots of Rock'N'Roll are already to be found in the early recordings of Blues, Jazz and Country music of the mid-1920. This collection, created by Gérard Herzhaft, shows that the Rock 'n' Roll was not born with Bill Haley and Elvis Presley but before, the fusion of Rhythm and Blues, Western Swing, Country, Gospel - or the whole of popular music from the early twentieth century. This collection has become indispensable, because the history of interbreeding reveals the crystallization and the formation of gender identity as the history of amplified music…
