A double CD of music for violin + piano and vibraphone, composed and played by two young American composers and members of the ensemble Ordinary Affects, who have recorded music by the Jürg Frey, Magnus Granberg, Nomi Epstein, Michael Pisaro, Eva Maria Houben and others. The second disc contains an exquisite new work by Morgan Evans-Weiler, while the first presents for the first time the beautiful music of JPA Falzone, who acknowledges a connection with Feldman. “Feldman’s approach to writing asymmetrical patterns has long fascinated me. His work represents a kind of considered haphazardness in defiance of formalised systems.” (JPA Falzone)

Zhao Jiping can be rightly considered as China's John Williams. Having made his reputation scoring some of the most popular arthouse films from China's Fifth Generation Filmmakers (including "To Live", "Ju Dou", "Farewell My Concubine", and "Raise The Red Lantern", Zhao achieved international recognition following the release of the CD "Electric Shadows" (2000). The present recording is a suite compiled from the incidental music Zhao composed for the popular historic drama "Qiao's Grand Courtyard." Stylistically, think Morricone at his sweetest, with a Chinese flavor. The suite has become quite popular in China and is frequently programmed on concerts.

Zhao Jiping can be rightly considered as China's John Williams, boasting the critically acclaimed scores for some of the most popular arthouse films from China's Fifth Generation Filmmakers. In addition to his prolific output for cinema and television, Zhao has written many works for the concert hall. Zhao's First Symphony is written in a broadly tonal/Romantic idiom (think Chinese Howard Hanson…). A wordless chorus joins in the finals for a sweeping, cinematic conclusion.
