Anshel Brusilow was for many years the celebrated concertmaster of the legendary Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy. In 1965 he founded the Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia with whom he recorded six albums for RCA Victor until 1968, now available for the first time, freshly restored and as a 24-bit remaster. The wide-ranging repertoire of the carefully selected musicians extends from symphonies by Haydn and Cherubini to the First Serenade by Brahms and the Fourth Suite by Tchaikovsky to works by Arensky, Ibert, Wolf, R. Strauss, Ravel, Francaix and a haunting cantata by Richard Yardumian (a composer whom Eugene Ormandy also supported).

Lohengrin, WWV 75, is a Romantic opera in three acts composed and written by Richard Wagner, first performed in 1850. The story of the eponymous character is taken from medieval German romance, notably the Parzival of Wolfram von Eschenbach, and its sequel Lohengrin, itself inspired by the epic of Garin le Loherain. It is part of the Knight of the Swan legend.

Recorded with Crazy Horse at Neil’s Broken Arrow Ranch, Ragged Glory one of Young’s most loved albums.The 10-song original album is expanded for this re-issue with 4 rare tracks. “Interstate” and “Don’t Spook The Horse” (both b-sides to singles) an “Box Car” and the 12 minute “Born To Run” (both previously unreleased versions). The 4 additional songs have resulted the CD format expanded to 2 CDs and 3 LPs. Weld (1991). 2 CDs, 3 LPs. The live album Weld was recorded with Crazy Horse on the tour following the release of Ragged Glory. Several songs from that album are featured, along with favorites such as “Powderfinger”, “Cinnamon Girl”, “Tonight’s The Night”, “Like A Hurricane” and a cover of Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind”. Only previously released on vinyl in Europe. Arc (1991). 1 CD, 1 LP. This is the live companion release to Weld. Also recorded on the 1991 US tour, it is a 35-minute composition of feedback, improvisation, guitar solos and vocal fragments. First release on vinyl.

BABIN, VICTORIA (VITYA) VRONSKY (August 22, 1909-June 28, 1992) was a distinguished pianist and teacher long associated with the CLEVELAND INSTITUTE OF MUSIC (CIM). A native of Yevpatoria in the Russian Crimea, she was the daughter of Michel and Sophia Blinkoff Vronsky. Graduating from the Kiev Conservatory of Music at fifteen, she went to Berlin to study piano under Artur Schnabel, whose students at the time also included another Russian, VICTOR BABIN. Vronsky appeared as a soloist with the leading orchestras and conductors of Europe before marrying Babin in 1933. As half of the piano duo of Vronsky and Babin, she toured and recorded extensively for the next quarter century, making her American debut in 1937.

Maria Callas was one of the most controversial singers of the twentieth century. She had a wide range from high E to the F below the staff, and an innate feel for the style of bel canto roles, but she was most notable for bringing a commitment and intensity to her dramatic portrayals that was nearly unprecedented at the time. Using photorealistic video projection, Callas was brought back to the stage for a new tour in 2018. Callas in Concert features an interactive Callas on stage performing some of her most iconic recordings with a live orchestra.

Madama Butterfly is an opera in three acts (originally two) by Giacomo Puccini, with an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. It is based on the short story "Madame Butterfly" (1898) by John Luther Long, which in turn was based on stories told to Long by his sister Jennie Correll and on the semi-autobiographical 1887 French novel Madame Chrysanthème by Pierre Loti. Long's version was dramatized by David Belasco as the one-act play Madame Butterfly: A Tragedy of Japan, which, after premiering in New York in 1900, moved to London, where Puccini saw it in the summer of that year.
