Wayne Horvitz is a musician with many sides. Here, he goes a bit electronic and hyper; lots of effects and frantic beats without getting totally abstract or avant garde. Miss Ann was recorded in 1993, four years before Zony Mash 'Cold Spell'. The bassist is the same, though, and the vibe is similar (with a little Mylab thrown in). I've listened 4-5 times and still feel like I need to dig a bit deeper. And, it will be a pleasure to do so.

As the title and photos on the cover indicate, it was meant to be a live album recorded at the actual Miss Black America Pageant but in truth, it was completely recorded in the studio with the applause mixed in after the fact. sometimes not very well. The group also recorded Live At The New York State Womans Prison. They recorded many albums but gained much bigger success when they changed their name to Ray, Goodman & Brown and released "Special Lady". The is from a CD pressing released in 2006.
