100 For 100 Musical Decades of Freedom

HGBS Blue Records is proud to announce the March 31, 2023 release of Septology – The Black Forest Session by the newly assembled all-star ensemble, the Canadian Jazz Collective. The CJC is fronted by three of Canada’s most acclaimed and accomplished jazz treasures: saxophonist Kirk MacDonald, guitarist Lorne Lofsky and trumpeter Derrick Gardner. Augmented by clarinetist Virginia MacDonald and supported by a noted rhythm section comprised of pianist Brian Dickinson, bassist Neil Swainson and drummer Bernd Reiter, this innovative septet takes a collaborative approach to the presentation of original Canadian jazz, and blends the unique artistic visions of the leaders into one creative and cohesive voice.

At a time when the world is mired in divisiveness, a time of wall-building and fear-mongering, it takes visionaries to build bridges rather than tear them down. “This is protest music,” insists Rob Mazurek. “It always has been. That’s why it’s called ‘Underground’ - it’s not just called that for fun. We really believe in it. The world has become so homogenized and leans so far towards the right, and this music expresses complete freedom and lack of borders. Our music is all about the obliteration of any kind of oppression, the tearing down of any kind of wall - freedom and equality, both sonically and spiritually.”

Kenneth Bager is a danish legend and electronic pioneer, he started as a DJ in 1979. He was in the first DJ Magazine as part of the top 100 best DJ's in the world. He has been on national radio P3 in Denmark for decades promoting electronic music. Kenneth Bager started the now legendary Coma Club in 1988 ( it is still running and more popular than ever - the party is 3 times a year in Copenhagen). He runs the labels Music For Dreams and Music For Clubs, DJ's around the world, & curates events.Music for Dreams is is a sonic kaleidoscope of musical tones and colours.
