1980 Fashion

Frank misses his mother, who was killed in a car accident years before. She was abusive to him, and made money selling her body, but Frank still misses her. He tries to keep her from leaving him, and reform her evil ways, by killing young women and putting their scalps on mannequins which he displays around his apartment. Photographer Anna takes a picture of him in the park, and he pursues and befriends her. Is she the one he's been looking for or just another mommy wanna be?

In this futuristic sci-fi film, based on the legends of the Golem, insane scientists have invented technology that give them total control over the half-human, half-android population of Earth. Trouble ensues when one of the creatures begins showing independent will. He must be destroyed lest he influence the rest. They pursue him, but somehow he continues to elude the evil doctors.

The soap-operatic story follows the fortunes of three ambitious youngish people: Billy, secretary and then wife to an older zillionaire, whose death frees Billy to start up a Beverly Hills boutique ("Scruples") and to pursue the pretentious and manly but commercially woebegone film director Vito Orsini…

The '80s were a curious time for David Bowie. Never had he sold more records, had bigger hits, his influence was everywhere, and yet, the music he made often fell a little flat, especially after his commercial high-water mark of 1983's Let's Dance.
