For the 1972- 1974 version of King Crimson, developing and writing new material was, as Bill Bruford memorably noted in his autobiography, 'excruciating, teeth-pullingly difficult music-making." When The Mincer appeared on Starless & Bible Black it represented a new way of approaching the process for Crimson; taking live improvisations and then editing and over-dubbing new parts to create an interesting hybrid. Although parts of this show recorded at Zurich Volkhaus on the 15th November 1973 have been previously released on disc 4 of The Great Deceiver box set, this is the first time the entire performance that night has seen the light of day. Using bootleg sources to restore the section of the gig originally excised to create The Mincer, David Singleton and Alex Mundy have recreated an evening of music which underscores Crimson's reputation as one of the classic must-see live acts of the 70s.

Imagination were a trio from the U.K. that put a synthesized and often clubby spin on soul groups from the '70s. In fact, a couple of '70s groups have direct ties to Imagination; Leee John and Ashley Ingram spent time during that decade playing supportive roles in the Delfonics and Chairmen of the Board, prior to Imagination's formation.

That very apt description comes further into focus with the complete dub version of LADDERS, called THE GHOST OF LADDERS, to be released in May. Named to echo the pivotal Burning Spear dub album Garvey's Ghost, the new record has every track from the original album dubbed by Latin-GRAMMY winner Victor Rice, who engineered the original album, and has done dub mixes for tons of artists, from The Soothsayers and Cas Haley to Easy Star All-Stars and SunDub. The original album was picked as an Album of the Year by BBC 6 Music for 2023. Guitarist Jorge Pezzimenti said about the project, “We are excited for fans to hear these dub versions of these songs, because it highlights how much energy and focus we put on the instrumental layers in our songs."
