Though known by some for his producing, programming, and writing work in the pop and electronic realms, Henry Jackman is best known as a film composer for action and animated features such as X-Men: First Class, Big Hero 6, and Captain America: Civil War. He was born in Hillingdon of suburban London, England into a family of industry professionals, including his father Andrew Pryce Jackman, a keyboardist and arranger who's worked with the likes of Yes, Barbra Streisand, and Nanci Griffith. His uncle Gregg Jackman is a sound engineer and producer for artists such as Barclay James Harvest, Seal, and Enya, and his grandfather Bill Jackman played woodwinds for, among others, the King's Singers.

The title of this recording – Bridges – implies connections. The bridges invoked on this disc are a series of personal and musical connections between five composers that lead from the 19th century piano virtuoso Chopin to 20th century tango master Piazzolla – links from mentor to student through five generations: Chopin; Mathias; Williams; Ginastera; Piazzolla. All five composers were immigrants, literally and/or musically, so underlying the repertoire on this disc is the free exchange of ideas that come from travel and immigration.

After releasing the successful debut album BRIDGES with Seamus Blake in 2016, and after two years of touring and playing concerts around Europe, it was clear that the ensembles constructive musical bridgework had to be continued.
