One of three acts (with Peter Gabriel and Paul Butterfield) on Rockpalast’s Third Rocknacht ("Rock Night") on 15th September, 1978 at the 10,000-capacity Grugahalle in Essen, recorded on the night of the famous Ali-Spinks heavyweight boxing match. Features legendary guitarist Alvin Lee in his only Rockpalast appearance, with backing musicians Tom Compton (drums) and Mick Hawksworth (bass). The Full 10-song set includes the Ten Years After Woodstock classic "I’m Going Home". Includes bonus unbroadcast tracks ‘Sweet Little Sixteen’ and 'Roll Over Beethoven' Alvin Lee post-show comment: "The best TV show I ever appeared in."

This 57-track double-CD set seems like a no-brainer – get almost all of Ronnie Hawkins' rock & roll recordings in one place. The packaging here is good, thoughtful, and legitimate, but could also be a little misleading to those who are buying this expecting to hear a lot of early work by the musicians who later became the Band – Levon Helm was aboard on drums from the Hawks' first official recordings, but the remainder didn't begin arriving on the scene until almost two years later; they're only on hand more than one or two at a time for less than half of what's here.

A jam band coming out of the Midwest in the mid-'90s, Umphrey's McGee edged toward the Frank Zappa side of the improv rock scale, as opposed to the Grateful Dead/Allman Brothers Band direction of their many contemporaries. This fantastic four-CD set from the veteran British rockers includes all 75 of their A-sides (many of them being radio edits not available on the original albums) plus Jump That Rock (Whatever You Want), their 2008 collaboration with the German techno act Scooter. Love 'em or hate 'em, Status Quo have been rockin' the charts for four decades. While they remain living legends and rock icons in the U.K., Europe, South America, and elsewhere, they can't even get arrested in the States! The "hip" U.K. press love to take as many potshots at them as possible, which is all the more reason to loveQuo. But we all know that, deep down (deeper and down), those critics probably have a soft spot for quite a few of Quo's hits but will never admit to it in public. At any rate, the band has always managed to maintain a certain quality level that may not always touch the stars, but, at the least, will always rock the house!
