Schubert: Complete Works for Violin and Piano by Michèle Auclair and Geneviève Joy is a captivating exploration of Schubert’s lyrical and delicate compositions for violin and piano.

In August 2014 young Swiss tenor Mauro Peter gave a highly acclaimed Lieder recital at the famous Schubert festival 'Schubertiade' in Schwarzenberg, Austria.On the program: famous Schubert songs on poems by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Such was the success, that Swiss radio DRS2 Kultur immediately took the decision to record this unique recital and asked SONY CLASSICAL to participate in a co-production of the album.

Born in Budapest in 1893, Jelly d’Arányi was the youngest of three remarkable sisters who all became prominent musicians. Jelly studied with Jeno Hubay at the Royal Academy in Budapest, and completed her studies in 1907.

Late sixteenth-century Florence was alive with theater. Seeking to achieve the perfect blend between music and poetry, intermedi (interludes) were inserted into plays. These interludes were presented with lavish visual and musical resources. After reaching an initial peak in 1589 with the intermedi composed for Bargagli's La pellegrina, the tradition survived the burgeoning genre of opera through the work of such composers as Peri, Caccini, Monteverdi and Gagliano. On this release, rather than aiming for the impossible ideal of a reconstruction, Raphaël Pichon has devised a sort of imaginary intermedi by selecting the finest gems from this repertory, featuring the figures of Apollo, Orpheus and Eurydice, and above all Cupid.

Their music is characterised by a fusion of Beatlesque pop, classical arrangements and futuristic iconography. During ELO's original 14-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide, and collected 19 CRIA, 21 RIAA, and 38 BPI awards. For a period in the mid 1970s, the band saw more success in the United States, where they were billed as "the English guys with the big fiddles". From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated twenty seven Top 40 songs on the UK Singles Chart, and fifteen Top 20 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits (20) without a number one single of any band in US chart history. In 2017 the classic ELO line-up have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Grateful Dead battled the elements in July 1989, enduring drenching rains and stifling humidity during back-to-back shows at Robert F. Kennedy Stadium in the nation’s capital. In spite of the bleak weather, the band thrilled the massive crowds both nights with triumphant performances that rank among the very best of a busy year that included 74 shows and the release of the group’s final studio album, BUILT TO LAST.
