Scientist Alex March (John Agar) is working on developing what he hopes will be a new, non-lethal form of nerve gas – but following an accident in his lab, he discovers that not only is the gas deadly, but also that it has invaded his entire body, and his touch is instantly fatal to any other living thing. He also realizes that the only thing keeping him alive is the partial immunity that he has developed over the course of months of work, which will soon wear off. He goes into hiding in his employer's home, hoping that a cure can be found, but he's already begun to go mad, tormented by the deaths he's caused and the mounting pain as the gas begins to affect him.

What is it: A collection of old and new instrumentals from Big Pimp Jones, or the band formerly known as K.R.O. and the House Band of the Apocalypse. Roughly 35 past and present instrumentals are included, some full song length and some much shorter. The songs are mixed together, phased in and out, and cut and pasted together to give a non-stop listening funk experience. This album is not the debut album from Big Pimp Jones, but rather a collection of the music that got them this far. Members of Big Pimp Jones are on every track - some are meant to sound just like the breakbeat tracks of old, some have their place in movies, and some are brand new for your funking pleasure.

One of the most successful groove metal bands of the 2010s, Five Finger Death Punch have been a staple of the Billboard charts since their formation in 2005. Taking their name from the cult martial arts film Five Fingers of Death, the group's titanic riffs and darkly skewed lyrics deliver a brand of vintage thrash and blazing metal as powerful as their name. In the years following their 2007 debut, they have amassed a slew of awards via gold- and platinum-selling outings like 2011's American Capitalist, 2013's ambitious two-volume set The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, 2018's And Justice for None, and 2022's AfterLife. The Los Angeles-based outfit formed around the talents of former U.P.O. guitar player Zoltan Bathory, former W.A.S.P. guitarist Darrell Roberts, vocalist Ivan Moody (Motograter/Ghost Machine), bass player Matt Snell (Anubis Rising), and former W.A.S.P. drummer Jeremy Spencer.

The 1970s were banner years for Airto Moreira – not only because of his association with Chick Corea's Return to Forever and his work on wife Flora Purim's Milestone dates, but also, because of the generally superb work he did under Creed Taylor's supervision at CTI from 1972-74. One of the five-star gems that the Brazilian percussionist recorded for CTI was Fingers, which employs Purim on percussion and vocals, David Amaro on guitar, Hugo Fattoruso on keyboards and harmonica, Jorge Fattoruso on drums and Ringo Thielmann on electric bass. Produced by Taylor and recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's famous New Jersey studio, this LP demonstrates just how exciting and creative 1970s fusion could be. When Moreira and his colleagues blend jazz with Brazilian music, rock and funk on such cuts as "Wind Chant," "Tombo in 7/4" and "Romance of Death," the results are consistently enriching. Fingers is an album to savor.

Stiff Little Fingers - Nobody's Heroes [Remastered and Expanded]

This inspired and underrated Northern Ireland punk band never sounded better. On Nobody's Heroes, the group began to forge a way out of the genre's dead-end street with articulate lyrics, refined playing, and a slight softening of vocalist Jake Burns's barking delivery. Fortunately, these improvements did nothing to blunt the group's impact or visceral appeal. They sound defiant as ever as they reflect the tough urban realities of their Belfast home. Highlights include the title track, "I Don't Like You," and "Wait and See," a collective "up yours" directed at the establishment and other nefarious types. Also included is a great, hopped-up version of the Specials' "It Doesn't Make It Alright." [by Mike Corrigan, Amazon-com]
